THE WRONG GIRL and Stephen’s mother EUNICE WINSLOW is a wealthy black woman who considers her tenant, SYBIL, totally wrong for STEPHEN, her only son. When his girlfriend (Sybil) disappears, Stephen turns to fair-skinned CLAIRE for comfort, and they marry. The marriage does not last, and Claire moves back to the city to live with CLIVE. Heartbroken, the exiled Sybil works feverishly to pay off her grandmother’s debts.
When Ma Rose (the grandmother) dies, EUNICE’S threat to evict her becomes void and Sybil, now a successful businesswoman, returns home. Stephen proposes to her and his mother is livid. Till she can permanently eliminate Sybil, Eunice pays CLAIRE to stay married to her son. In a tense climax, Stephen faces off with the gun-toting CLIVE (Claire’s lover).
